Thank you for your purchase and support! As a fellow Beta enthusiast, your assistance and feedback is much appreciated. Your header is hand-made with high quality grade 304 stainless steel, fully TIG welded and internally argon purged. It is also checked for fitment prior to shipping! These headers have been designed, ridden, and dyno tested thoroughly to ensure a quality and high performing product is delivered.
Your header is designed to fit in place of the factory unit. We have not encountered any major fitment issues or interactions with other aftermarket parts that prevent installation.
- Loop versions run close tolerance to the upper part of some skid plates. For ease of use and maintenance, an aftermarket skid plate that mounts lower on the chassis may be a helpful addition.
- If you should encounter something that prevents a successful installation, please contact 22 Fabrications immediately.
Installation should be fairly straightforward. *** MAKE SURE THE EXHAUST AND ENGINE ARE COOL.*** Remove the (2) 10mm nuts holding the factory header in place. Gently remove the header and set to the side. At this point, inspect the gasket inside the cylinder head. If you have any doubts about its condition, replace it. Leaks at this location can be harmful to the engine.
Next, begin to feed your new header onto the bike. The 2-bolt flange will slide around, but you can put it in place at any point. Start the rear of the header in the slip-section at the mid-point of the exhaust. **There has been noted variance in this area. Depending on your muffler type, you may need to sand out carbon deposits if the slip is tight, or add some high-temp silicone if the slip is overly loose.** It may be helpful for alignment to loosen the 3 bolts holding the muffler section. Next, slowly bring the header “ring flange” into the cylinder head. At this point, you can feed the 2-bolt flange up onto the mounting studs.
- The flange should be oriented with the oblong hole on the top stud.
Carefully thread the factory nuts onto the studs, and begin to tighten evenly while alternating between the two. Be sure that the ring flange remains inside the receiver port on the cylinder head and seats evenly. The 2-bolt flange will not bottom out on the cylinder head, so use care not to overtighten and bend the flange or damage the studs. Now start the engine and check for exhaust leaks. The header may change color, or even “glow” slightly during the first few heat cycles.
